Here's to Eight Years of Marriage

A change in perspective on matrimonial hurdles

July 31st, 2023 marks 8 years of marriage for me and my husband. So, I find myself to be in an especially reflective mood.

I grew up looking at weddings as the sort of fairytale end of a storybook romance. As a girl, the lavish celebration of a wedding represented the pinnacle of a relationship’s arc.

Now, I realize that my wedding was the starting line, not the finish. Finding one another and vowing our everlasting love was but the beginning of this three-legged hurdle marathon that my husband and I have embarked upon.
