The pond of my Inner Space has been frozen solid for 8 years straight. But woven tight within the ice crystals lives a hero’s journey.
No one else was here when the storm rolled through and the sunlit horizon turned black with thunderheads. When life transitions collided with spiritual awakenings, and condemnation rained down like acid.
No one else remembers the way the winds hightailed it down the mountain slopes and smashed into this valley. The way an onslaught of pointed questions pierced through the peace and left behind an air of explosive volatility in its wake.
A flash flood gripped the land, catching nature’s delicate balance by surprise. The once placid waters of the pond now frothed and foamed with electric charge. Was it safe anymore? Was it ever?
Which is how, in the sweltering heat of one Texas summer, the Ice Age began.
