Rocking my son to sleep
It was nearly 10:30 pm when my second son woke up screaming. He’s been sleeping through the night for months now, but the Nerf gun war and dodgeball game my 7-year old son and his friend were playing in the next room proved too much to ignore...

“They” want the weight of the world to feel heavier and heavier these days. To tempt us into despair, doubt and disgust.
I look around me, my neighborhood, my city, my state, my country, and I see many things I don’t like. The list is long and it keeps growing.
The message that keeps swirling around my ear like a bothersome gnat is: if you’re not upset, then you don’t care about the injustices of the world! If you’re not angry, then you must have no soul!
So, people look at me and assume I’m heartless because I’m not roiling in anger, because I’m not hiding under the covers every day.
They don’t realize that there are different ways to embody outrage…
